This beginner PADI diving program in Koh Samui is a one-day experience designed to introduce you to scuba diving in a safe and relaxed environment. You will dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters under the direct supervision of a certified PADI instructor. While this program does not provide a full certification, it can be credited as your first open water dive toward your PADI Open Water course in Koh Samui. It is the perfect option for anyone curious about breathing underwater and discovering the incredible underwater world of the Gulf of Thailand.
Your day begins with hotel pickup in Koh Samui at approximately 8:00 am, followed by transfer to the pier where you will meet your professional PADI instructor.
Our Discovery speedboat departs around 8:45 am and takes approximately 90 minutes to reach one of the calm, shallow bays of Koh Tao, one of Thailand’s most famous dive destinations. Upon arrival, your instructor will explain the scuba equipment, review essential safety skills, and ensure you feel comfortable before guiding you on your first unforgettable dive experience.
After your first dive, you will enjoy a relaxing lunch break on the boat or on the beach, followed by approximately one hour of rest before heading to a second dive site around Koh Tao. By this point, most participants feel comfortable and confident underwater, allowing you to fully enjoy your second scuba diving experience.
After completing the dive, our speedboat returns to Koh Samui, where your PADI instructor will provide a full debriefing and give you the opportunity to view photos from your unforgettable day of diving.
We will register your experience directly with PADI, ensuring your dives are officially recorded. This program counts as credit toward your first open water dive when you enroll in a full PADI Open Water course in Koh Samui.

We recently joined a dive trip to Sailrock, and it was absolutely incredible. As an amateur diver, I felt supported and safe from start to finish. The crew was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about the ocean. Our dive instructors Dion and Mango were patient, gave clear briefings, and made sure everyone felt comfortable underwater. Sailrock itself was breathtaking — schools of barracuda, giant groupers, colorful soft corals, and even a surprise visit from a whale shark! The boat was clean and well-equipped. From the pickup to gear setup to dive planning, the whole experience was smooth and stress-free. I couldn’t have asked for a better first diving experience. Highly recommended for both beginners and experienced!
A fantastic experience as a first-time diver and thrilled to obtain the open water certificate with instructor Filip! Filip is such a warm and encouraging person, his instructions were precise and easy to follow. I didn’t panicked a lot because I know he is by my side, and when you did well, he made sure to cheer for you and that really helped me gain the confidence. Love the atmosphere among the crew, the instructors, captain, crew and participants all came from different countries and they are all friendly and chilled, you can tell it’s a good team! I recommend Discovery Divers if you are planning to learn diving in Samui - and look out for Filip and get him as your instructor if you could!
Discovery really provides a wonderful overall experience. As first-time divers, our instructor Zoe made us feel comfortable and confident with the equipment and explained the various skills to us thoroughly. Another aspect that stood out was that the whole team on the boat were so helpful and supportive, everyone was willing to assist, which promoted a really warm and friendly atmosphere. Excited to return and do some more diving with them!!
