This 2-day beginner PADI course in Koh Samui introduces you to basic dive theory followed by two open water training dives. After completion, you will receive a PADI certification allowing you to dive to 12 meters under the supervision of a Divemaster or Instructor. It’s the perfect step for those ready to move beyond a trial dive and earn their first scuba credential in Koh Samui.
Your first day begins between 8:00–9:00 am with hotel pickup in Koh Samui and transfer to our dive centre. You will meet your PADI instructor, set up your equipment, and review key theory concepts. All academic modules are completed through PADI eLearning before arrival, maximizing your holiday time for in-water training.
You will then move to our on-site pool for confined water sessions, where you will learn to use scuba equipment and practice essential safety skills. These exercises prepare you to feel confident, comfortable, and ready for your open water dives.
Your second day of the PADI course in Koh Samui starts with hotel pickup at approximately 7:00 am. We will transfer you to the pier, where you will meet your friendly PADI instructor and set up your scuba equipment on the boat.
The speedboat ride to Koh Tao takes about 90 minutes, offering scenic views of the Gulf of Thailand. Upon arrival, you will complete your first open water dive in one of Koh Tao’s shallow bays, practicing skills learned during pool sessions and experiencing the island’s vibrant marine life.
After your first dive, enjoy a relaxing lunch on the boat or the beach, followed by your second dive at a nearby site. After the second dive, the boat returns to Koh Samui, usually arriving around 3:00–3:30 pm.
This full day provides a safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable introduction to scuba diving in Koh Samui, making it the perfect start to your PADI journey.

We recently joined a dive trip to Sailrock, and it was absolutely incredible. As an amateur diver, I felt supported and safe from start to finish. The crew was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about the ocean. Our dive instructors Dion and Mango were patient, gave clear briefings, and made sure everyone felt comfortable underwater. Sailrock itself was breathtaking — schools of barracuda, giant groupers, colorful soft corals, and even a surprise visit from a whale shark! The boat was clean and well-equipped. From the pickup to gear setup to dive planning, the whole experience was smooth and stress-free. I couldn’t have asked for a better first diving experience. Highly recommended for both beginners and experienced!
A fantastic experience as a first-time diver and thrilled to obtain the open water certificate with instructor Filip! Filip is such a warm and encouraging person, his instructions were precise and easy to follow. I didn’t panicked a lot because I know he is by my side, and when you did well, he made sure to cheer for you and that really helped me gain the confidence. Love the atmosphere among the crew, the instructors, captain, crew and participants all came from different countries and they are all friendly and chilled, you can tell it’s a good team! I recommend Discovery Divers if you are planning to learn diving in Samui - and look out for Filip and get him as your instructor if you could!
Discovery really provides a wonderful overall experience. As first-time divers, our instructor Zoe made us feel comfortable and confident with the equipment and explained the various skills to us thoroughly. Another aspect that stood out was that the whole team on the boat were so helpful and supportive, everyone was willing to assist, which promoted a really warm and friendly atmosphere. Excited to return and do some more diving with them!!
